Happy Pride Month!
The month of June is Pride Month and we want to make sure everyone feels welcome in our community! That's why we are supporting our LGBTQ+ community by raising money for Uniting Pride.
Uniting Pride was founded in 2009 as an organization to advocate for the equality, wellness, advocacy, and visibility of the LGBTQ+ communities in Champaign County. They host the Pride Parade in October as well as all sorts of workshops and events throughout the year. They have a pretty great lineup of events for June including their Pride Party at Rosebowl Tavern! You can view their full June calendar here.
We are very fortunate to have such a great organization in our community and they could use our support. If you would like to contribute to our fundraiser you can fill out the form below:

Uniting Pride LGBTQ+ Cultural Competency Workshop
Educating ourselves on how to be good advocates for the LGBTQ+ Community is a great way to show support. On June 23rd, Uniting Pride is hosting a virtual LGBTQ+ Cultural Competency workshop for us and we invite you to join!
From Uniting Pride: Learn about terminology, the best ways to be affirming and welcoming, how to handle pronouns and identities, and what to do when you mess up. Do you sometimes feel like there are things you're already supposed to know so you're afraid to ask? Here's the place to fix that. Join us and learn, won't you?
The workshop will be held via Zoom at 5 PM on Thursday, June 23rd. RSVP and we will email you the link.
How this training can make a difference:
It can be hard to know how to be a good ally, but it can make a big difference. According to the 2022 National Survey on LGBTQ Youth Mental Health from the Trevor Project, LGBTQ youth who live in a community that is accepting of LGBTQ people reported significantly lower rates of attempting suicide than those who do not. Our words and actions can make a huge impact on those around us.
